History
Velox Aequitas was formed on the basis of a few reasons; the members and founders of this guild were not all subject to the same circumstance in which made our bond stronger; however each shared the same “belief” or upheld value system in regards to each situation that resulted in the formation of the guild.
A strong reason, shared by many, was the exhaustion and effort required to make new friends in each new game played. Today most online games require the cooperation of others as a team to accomplish certain goals, and every new flavor released into the gaming industry would leave a trail of abandon guilds and friends left to either move to upcoming game title or find a new family in the world they were still apart of. Time after time, game after game it was only natural to want to belong to a gaming community, a circle of friends, where the friendship continued no matter what game was on the table.
Others experienced constant favoritism and dismissal of people’s good deeds done for guilds; thinking their community was in fact their friends. They wore a thick skin when treated unfairly, but could not stomach being a part of hateful disrespect to any member of their guild who would willing use their only free time set aside for personal fun by helping and assisting others for the betterment of the guild. The only place to remain, was with friends that they knew were true friends.
The guild formation was more than a recourse from negative gaming experiences, it was an evolution of what a great guild, in our opinion, needed to become.
Officially, the assembly of our guild, its members and values were founded near the beginning of Warhammer Online, however, the ties between members can be traced back many years. What started as a social gathering for online gaming grew into friendships offering many fond memories, fun adventures and lasting stories to never be forgotten.
Our common denominator, long time residents of Dark Age of Camelot, is a center piece of some of the best times most members experienced in online gaming. Some came from the Percival server, some from Nimue as well as a few other servers from time to time. Not limited to Camelot, many of us have extended roots tied to each other back to Everquest on the Rallos Zek sever and a few even further back to an addicting MUD known as Gemstone.
Even though not all members of Velox Aequitas may share the same backgrounds, we’ve always had a fondness to fun and a welcomed home to any wishing to get to know us as we get to know them. With such an open mind and open door, we have been blessed to have acquired new faces that have remained close friends through the years.
Primarily our membership consists of middle aged adults, some with families, some with children and some single as well. Our overall nature as a whole, if to be described, would be defined as good natured, honest, loyal and always thinking of our group first before the individual. Above all, we stand for equal treatment and fairness for all. We believe extending acts of kindness should go rewarded; and faith in justice to correct those selfish in nature.
Meaning of "Velox Aequitas"
Simply translated from latin as, “Swift Justice”. For the pronunciation of the latin phrase, the word velox, meaning rapid or swift, is pronounced like “well-ox”. In Latin, the V is actually pronounced like what we use today as the W. Aequitas, pronounced much like it sounds, but start off the pronouncing the AE like “Eye - eee”. The rest is negligible and difficult to write to do an accurate pronunciation justice. No pun intended.
